This engine will not be strong enough to carry this heavy SUV with cargo or even a few passengers. That’s why, if you want to drive a Journey, you should go for the engine upgrade. This is a 3.6-liter V-6 that offers 283hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, which is way more reasonable for this vehicle. It also features a 6-speed automatic, nothing special, and sometimes an odd pair to the V-6, but definitively an upgrade from the standard 4-speed automatic.

While the engine and transmission might be nothing to be proud of, the Journey still manages to deliver a quality driving experience on its own merits. The 17” wheelset is your best option for shock absorption and stability, and the steering is good enough and pretty accurate, providing a sense of security and control. The suspension isn’t anything out of this world either, so if you’re looking for an off-road SUV, then you can strike this one right off the board.

The interior does have some good things to it, like the wide space for passengers and cargo – but remember, put on too much load, and the engine will be overwhelmed. The dashboard is quite outdated, especially in its aesthetics, and though it does feature a stable infotainment system with an 8.4” screen, it hasn’t been updated to support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
